Best Pen Pals Ever

My son Mike married an awesome girl named Jennie in 2009.  Jennie's mom is a second grade teacher in American Fork, Utah.  At our kid's wedding reception, we, as teachers, thought it would be a great idea to have our students be Pen Pals.  It has been a super experience for all of the kids.  It is funny to listen to my kids say things like, "they forgot to capitalize the beginning of sentences or put punctuation at the end" or "I can see how important it is to write carefully" or "I love their penmanship" or "My Pen Pal is so interesting" etc. Mrs. LeBaron's class sent us Pots of Gold (with real candy gold) and a fun letter.  We replied with Easter pictures, letters and an Easter Egg for each student. One of the standards we teach in second grade is how to write a 'friendly letter'. This has been a super way to fulfill that requirement.
